What if God is just asking his church to go? I already thought going was important, but after four weeks of going, I am all the more convinced that God wants, needs, and invites his people to go.

Jesus says: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19, NIV). We call it The Great Commission. And it feels like a very big ask.
But Jesus also says: “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth….” (Acts 1:8, NIV). The ends of the earth starts local. But we still need to go.
I have been really pleased to meet Michelle on my pilgrimage. And to hear how God’s call to Moses to go has been such an important part of her faith journey and calling: “Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say” (Exodus 4:12, NLT). And, I was also interested to hear the story of how Brandlesholme Methodist Church came to be running a community café in the local community centre. It all started because Michelle went and volunteered at the food bank that was already established at the centre. And one thing led to another. Michelle moved.
So, could it be that The Great Commission is not such a big ask? Perhaps, I just need to go. God will fill me in on the rest once I have gone.
