Reflections from a pilgrimage to Bury

Young people these days

It’s probably the case that every generation of young people will find themselves questioned and dismissed by their elders. And it’s no different right now; the challenges they face may be different, but young people will always need adults with a different perspective.

As I have been on pilgrimage to Bury, it has been encouraging and inspiring to encounter signs that there are people who are committed to valuing and supporting young people.

Like those who run the Sea Cadets, who ‘aim to give young people an experience that will help them grow into the person they want to be….to be the best version of yourself”.

Like those who run Prestwich Juniors FC and want to ‘provide football to children or all ages and abilities, in a safe and friendly environment ‘.

So, I am glad and grateful that in Bury that there are people who will say, “Young people these days…. they’re great!”
